Kap Industries began when Russell, the owner, used to race his WRX wagon in Perth, Australia. One of the requirements to race was that a fire extinguisher was within arms reach and securely fastened to the car. A friend of Russell’s didn’t want to drill into his car to race, and neither did Russell, so he manually crafted a bracket to fit to existing seat bolts under the front seat. Other race goers started asking if he could make one for their vehicle, as they also didn’t want to drill holes into their cars to fit the extinguisher.
